Sponsors of the LGBTQ+ Business Awards gathered on Thursday 29th September for an evening of networking at Mason’s Bar in Liverpool ahead of the main event of Friday 21st October.
50 guests were treated to free flowing fizz as and mouthwatering canapés in the trendy surroundings of Mason’s Bar on Seel Street. Attendees included representatives from headline sponsors TalkTalk as well as Everton Football Club, Owen Drew, CoolBreeze Agency and ChilliMix Holidays.
Addressing the room, Drew Cockton, who founded the LGBTQ+ Business Awards, thanked Morecrofts for their generosity in sponsoring the evening for the second year running noting that with a few exceptions, financial support for the project had overwhelmingly come from small companies and family run businesses.
Julie Waring, partner of Morecrofts said the following: “We have been so proud to get behind this initiative and look forward to attending The Titanic Hotel later in October. Championing marginalised communities is something we are passionate about at Morecrofts”
The awards will celebrate the achievements of LGBTQ+ people and businesses from across the North West with representation from the entire region attending the glitzy event on Friday 21st October. “This is something”, Cockton said, “which we need now more than ever. Times are tough and businesses are struggling, so we look forward to shining a light on the awesome accomplishments of some of the good and great from across the region”. Over one thousand applications and nominations were received for the awards and 400 guests are expected to attend later this month.
Prizes will be presented to worthy recipients from across 15 categories including Best Small Business, LGBTQ+ Ally, Community Impact Award and Outstanding Personal Achievement. The overall winner of the awards will be crowned by headline sponsors, TalkTalk.
Drew Cockton and Morecrofts have worked together on several initiatives in 2022 including a Mad Hatter Tea Party in aid of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre with over £1750 being raised. The opulent event took place at Heatherfield House, Wirral, where guests were greeted by actors playing Alice and the Queen of Hearts before enjoying a champagne afternoon tea with entertainment and goody bag sponsored by Owen Drew.
